Voters have been facing difficulties while accessing information on the Election Commission's (EC) app, which was created to for the general public to get easy access to information during the 12th national election.

Since voting started at 8am Sunday, the 'Smart Election Management' app has failed to update voter turnouts constituency-wise every two hours.

The app, officially announced on November 12 by EC, was supposed to provide people with information as to which polling station they should vote at and the percentage of votes that have been cast.

However, it has been seen that the app is not providing real-time information since the voting started.

According to users, it is taking hours to get information after providing the National Identity Card number and date of birth, and in many cases, the app is not working at all. This is creating problems for voters as well as the election observers.

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal on Thursday said that the app was created to ensure that there is no lack of trust among the voters during the election.

He claimed that the public will be able to know the accurate election information which will be updated every two hours on election day.

Although the voting information was supposed to be updated on the app every two hours, it was not available since Sunday morning. When entering the "Result Analysis" option on the app, it said, "This feature will be available soon."
