The government has decided to reopen all educational institutions up to higher secondary level from September 12.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni disclosed the matter while talking to reporters after inaugurating the new building of Mahamaya Govt Primary School in Chandpur Sadar upazila on Friday.
Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate examinations would also take place in November and December respectively as per previous decision, confirmed Abul Khair, public relations officer of the education ministry.
Earlier, after a long hiatus of about a year and a half, the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 suggested reopening the country's educational institutions as the infection rate is declining.
After a meeting of the committee on Thursday night, NTAC Chairman Mohammad Shahidullah said as vaccination was gradually being confirmed to more and more people, the educational institutions could now be reopened considering the overall situation and taking some precautionary measures regarding public health.
