The approval was given in the cabinet meeting held at the Cabinet Chamber in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain briefed the newsmen about the outcome of the meeting saying, “The government decided to declare a holiday on April 20 by executive order.”

According to the new decision, he said there will be a holiday on April 20 (Thursday), the day after the holy Shab-e-Qadr holiday on April 19. Eid holidays will continue from April 20 to April 23.

The holy Ramadan started on March 24. Accordingly, the government has prepared a list of holidays by fixing the date of Eid-ul-Fitr on April 22 for 29 days of Ramadan.
