Amidst the jubilant spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr, Muslims gathered for the main congregation Thursday morning at 8:30am at the National Eidgah in the capital.

Following the prayers, munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and the overall well-being of the nation, reports UNB.

People from all walks of life joined in the celebrations, reinforcing the message of harmony and inclusivity that Eid embodies.

Eid prayers were also held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. People from different areas of Dhaka started arriving at the national mosque with prayer mats early in the morning.

The first jamaat at the mosque was held at 7 am this morning. 

A total of five congregations were held at Baitul Mukarram till 10:45 am.

Millions of the capital’s residents have left the city in the last few days to celebrate the occasion with their loved ones.

Across Bangladesh, Muslims are holding Eid congregations in Eidgahs, mosques and open spaces.

The national flag has been hoisted atop government and non-government office buildings. The main city streets and road islands have been decorated.

Television channels and radio stations are airing special programmes on this occasion. 

A congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr has been held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Devotees from different areas of Dhaka started coming to the National Mosque with prayer mats.

The first congregation was held on Thursday (April 11) at 7am. 

A total of five congregations were held at Baitul Mukarram till 10:45am. 

Rajshahi's Eid congregation

The main jamaat (congregation) of Eid-ul-Fitr was held at Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah Maidan in the city at 8am.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and senior officials of divisional and district levels, including Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner GSM Jafarullah and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed, offered their Eid prayers at the main Eid jamaat, reports BSS.

The second and third largest ones were held at Tikapara Eidgah and Shaheb Bazar Zero Point at 8 am and 8.30 am respectively.

Thousands of Musallis at the end of Eid jamaats offered special munajats seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of departed souls particularly their near and dear ones, continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the country and as well as greater welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

Some other big Eid jamaats in the city were held at Rajshahi University, RUET campus, Hatemkha, Stadium Ground, Shalbagan, Alif Lam Meem Bhata Eidgah, Police Line Parade Ground, Mahisbathan Eidgah Math and Upashahar Eidgah Moidan.

Earlier in the morning, streams of people-young, old and children- rushed to their nearest eidgah, mosques and open places to offer the Eid prayers. Around 150 other Eid-ul-Fitr jamaats were held at traditional and temporary venues in the Rajshahi metropolis.

On the other hand, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated in Rajshahi city and the adjacent districts with due fervor, joy and solemnity.

Improved diets are being served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails, Shishu Paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres in all districts on the occasion.

Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been adopted for the Rajshahi city and its adjacent areas for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Similar reports of Eid congregations were reached here from the districts of Chapainawabganj, Natore, Naogaon, Bogra, Joypurhat, Sirajganj and Pabna in Rajshahi division.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in Khulna

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated in the city and district as elsewhere in the country today with due religious fervour, solemnity and tight security measures.

The main Eid Congregation was held at Khulna Circuit House Ground at 8.00am in the city, reports BSS.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna Md Helal Mahmud Sharif, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Khandakar Yasir Arefin, city and district level officials including, leaders of the political parties, elite of the city, professionals and people from all walks of life joined the congregation.

Mowlana A KHA M Zakaria, Principal of Khulna Alia Madrasa, conducted the main Eid prayers.

Another big Eid Jamaat was also held at City's Town Jame Mosque, at 8am while the third big Jamaat was held at Town Jame Mosque at 9am.

The other Eid Jamaats were also held on the premises of city's Islamabad Eidgah, Khalishpur Eidgah, Alia Madrsa, Baitun Nur Jame Mosque, PTI Jame Mosque, KDA Nirala Jame Mosque, Basupara Eidgah, Iqbal Nagar Jame Mosque, Baitunnur Jame Mosque, Talimul Millat Darul Ulum Jame Mosque, Deana Eidgah, Farazipara Eidgah, Zila Police Line Maidan, Boyra Metropolitan Police Line Maidan, Zoragate C&B Colony Maidan, B L College Maidan, all KCC Wards and all upazila headquarters in Khulna district.

A total of 1,087 Eid Jamaats were held in the city and all nine upazilas in the district while same numbers of volunteer committees were deployed, other than police protection, for safety and security all Eid Jamaat, said Khondokar Yasir Arefin, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna.

Main roads were decorated with festoons and flags inscribed with 'Eid Mubarak' and 'Allahu Akbar'.

Special and improved diets were also served among the inmates of the different hospitals, jails, Shishu Paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres of the city and district.

The police administration also took adequate steps and the members of Police, Rab, Ansar and other law enforcing agencies were deployed everywhere for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Sylhet celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Sylhet was held at the revered 700-year-old Shahi Eidgah Maidan at 8:00 am on Thursday, drawing devotees from across the region in a vibrant display of faith and community.

Maulana Abu Hurairah, Imam and Khatib of Bandarbazar Central Jame Mosque, led the prayers, with Maulana Mostaq Ahmed Khan, Khatib of the same mosque, delivering the sermon that preceded the gathering., reports UNB.

The early morning air was filled with the spirit of camaraderie as Muslims, carrying prayer mats, convened at the Maidan following the Fajr prayers.

The prayers concluded with supplications for the peace and prosperity of the nation, highlighting the congregation's unity and spiritual fervor. The event saw heartfelt embraces and warm Eid greetings exchanged among attendees, fostering a sense of brotherhood and joy.

Prominent figures, including the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment State Minister and Sylhet District Awami League President Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Ministry and Sylhet-1 MP Dr. AK Abdul Momen, and City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, were among the attendees, adding a dignitary presence to the auspicious occasion.

The Islamic Foundation reported that this year, Sylhet city hosted 430 Eid congregations, with 347 in mosques and 83 at various Eidgahs. Additionally, the broader Sylhet district celebrated with 2,569 congregations, marking a significant observation of one of Islam’s most sacred holidays across the region.

Eid prayers held in Barishal

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at the Hemat Uddin Central Eidgah Maidan in Barishal, praying for peace for the Muslim Ummah.

The prayer was held at 8am and was attended by leaders of various political, social and cultural organisations, officials of various levels of the administration, and people from different walks of life, reports UNB.

Hafez Maulana Shihab Uddin, Senior Imam of Steamer Ghat Jame Mosque, led the prayers and munajat. 

Earlier, the khutbah was delivered by Qazi Maulana Abdul Mannan, Khatib Imam of Central Kasai Jame Mosque.

State Minister for Water Resources Col (retd) Zahid Faruk Shamim, Mayor of Barishal City Corporation Abul Khair Abdullah Khokon Serniabat, Barishal Divisional Commissioner Shawkat Ali, leaders of Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party and other political and social organisations, and administration officials offered prayers at the Central Eidgah. 

Eid prayers held at Brahmanbaria

Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held in Brahmanbaria with due religious solemnity. The main Eid congregation was held at the district Eidgah Maidan in Kazirpara at 8:30am.

The congregation was led by Maulana Sibghatullah Noor, Khatib of the district Jame Mosque. 
Housing and Public Works Minister and local MP, R A M Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman, and leaders of various social and political organisations attended the prayers, reports UNB.

A special doa was held after the prayers for the peace in the country, the nation, and the Muslim Ummah.

Eid prayers were also held at mosques in the district, including the Tankerpara Jame Mosque, Sadar Hospital Jame Mosque, and Sherpur Jame Mosque.
