Eight individuals, organisations to get 'Manab Kallyan Padak'

Eight individuals and organisations will receive the 'Manab Kallyan Padak' in five categories for their special contributions to social service work in 2020 and 2021.

"Eight individuals and organizations are receiving this padak for the years 2020 and 2021. Tomorrow (Monday), the padak will be handed over at the Department of Social Services on National Social Service Day," said Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Sunday.

The minister disclosed this matter at a press conference held at the conference room of the 'Tottho Odhidaftor' at the secretariat on Sunday, said a press release.

Although it was not possible to give the award in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, this time it is being given to the selected ones for 2020 and 2021 simultaneously, said Nuruzzaman.

The minister said that the winners of this padak will receive a medal made of 25 grams of 18-carat gold, a replica of the 'Jatiya Manab Kallyan Padak', Taka two lakh at the individual level, Tk two lakh at the office or organization level and a citation.

For 2020, the award is being given to Abdul Jabbar Jalil for the protection of marginalised and backward communities, valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Al-Mamun Sarkar for the welfare of disabled persons and Khulna District Administration for its positive activities in human welfare, according to the release.

The award for 2021 will go to Biswa Manab Seba Sangha named 'Briddhashram' for the welfare of old-age widows and elderly people, Majeda Shawkat Ali, a valiant freedom fighter, for the protection of marginalized and backward communities, Aspire to Innovate (a2i) programme for the welfare of persons with disabilities, Akboria Limited for the welfare of children-destitute persons and Bidyanondo Foundation for positive activities in the area of human welfare.
