A total of eight staffers employed in Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan home have tested positive for COVID-19, said her personal physician Abdullah Al Mamun Sunday.
They infected include the BNP chief’s house help Fatema, he said.
The report of Khaleda Zia’s COVID-19 test also came out positive on the same day.
Earlier on the day, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told journalists that their party chairperson’s condition is completely stable with no symptom of COVID-19 though she tested positive for the virus.
She’s fine and receiving treatment under her personal physicians, Fakhrul said.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda was sent to jail on February 8, 2017, after being sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment by a special court in Dhaka in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
She was released from jail on March 25, 2020, after the government suspended her jail sentence for six months. Her bail period was later extended twice.
