An 80-year-old undertrial prisoner died in Sylhet Central Jail on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Join Uddin, son of late Yunus Ali of Sotor village in Sylhet.
He was sent to judicial custody by a court in Sylhet on Monday in connection with a land-related case.
Md Mijibur Rahman, the jailer, said that Join Uddin complained of chest pain around 8:00pm on Wednesday. He was soon rushed to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The body will be handed over to his family on Thursday after an autopsy and other legal formalities, the jailor said.
