The Election Commission on Saturday sent election materials, including ballot boxes and other materials, to the polling centres across the country, ahead of Sunday's national election.

However, the ballot papers will be sent to most of the polling centres in early the morning on the voting day. Members of the security forces and election officials are taking ballot boxes and other equipment to the centre amid tight security.

The concerned returning officers and assistant returning officers will hand over the ballot papers to the designated presiding officers early Sunday morning.

One of UNB photographers visited Wills Little Flower School centre in Dhaka in the morning and saw the presiding officer collecting the materials on the school premises.

Besides, our districts correspondents from Bagerhat, Benapole (Jashore), Faridpur, Sylhet, Narayanganj, Rangamati, Jhalakathi, Dinajpur, Khagrachhari, Naogaon, Khulna, Satkhira, Cumilla Lakshmipur reported about dispatch of the election materials.

The balloting will start at 8am on Sunday and continue till 4pm non-stop in 299 out of the country's 300 constituencies. Voting in Naogaon-2 constituency has been postponed following the death of an independent contender, according to the Election Commission.

Some 1,970 candidates, including 436 independent contenders are running in the general election.
