Dr Md Rafiqul Haidar, a diabetologist and endocrinologist at the Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, died from coronavirus infection.
As Rafiqul complained of breathing problems Wednesday night, he was rushed to Enam Medical College Hospital from his Mirpur residence; but he was declared 'brought dead' by doctors at the hospital’s emergency unit.
The doctors said Rafiqul had tested positive for coronavirus three days before his death. Since then, he had been undergoing treatment being at home.
Dr Rafiqul was buried at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in the capital’s Rayerbazar Wednesday night following a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) maintaining physical distance.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman, who is also the founder of Enam Medical College Hospital, expressed condolences at the death of Dr Rafiqul.
