Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) M Khurshid Hossain on Friday said the escape of two convicted militants from the premises of a Dhaka court on November 20 is a "failure."
"We believe in self-criticism. Two militants escaped and we are not going to deny it. It was our failure as two militants escaped [from the court premises] like that," he told reporters after visiting the Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital where the ruling Awami League will hold its 22nd national council session on Saturday.
"The militants had been planning the escape for a long time, while we are yet to track them down. However, efforts are underway to arrest them," he added.
Khurshid said, “There are still militant activities, but we are also continuing our operations.”
On November 20, death-row convicts — Moinul Hasan Shamim and Abu Siddiq Sohail — members of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al Islam, were whisked away by their associates by beating police and spraying some chemicals on their eyes in the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate court area.
