The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) has made Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) System mandatory for 11 toll plazas across the country starting from November.

In this regard, RHD issued an emergency notification on Saturday.

According to the notification, no vehicles will be able to cross nine bridges and two highways without using the ETC system after the month of October.

The nine bridges and two highways are — Karnaphuli Bridge in Chattogram, Meghna Bridge in Narayanganj, Gomati Bridge in Cumilla, Bhairab Bridge in Narsingdi, Payra Bridge in Patuakhali, Khan Jahan Ali (Rupsa) Bridge in Khulna, Charsindur Bridge in Narsingdi, Shaheed Moizuddin Bridge in Narsingdi, Lalon Shah Bridge in Pabna, Atrai toll plaza in Natore and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway.

The circular also said 10 per cent discount is being given to ETC users as an incentive from the mentioned toll plazas. The discount can be availed through Nexus-Pay, Rocket, and upay apps. ETC payment facilities will also be available through other mobile banking and e-payment systems in phases.
