Europe returnees to be in 14-day mandatory quarantine: CAAB

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said Tuesday that all incoming passengers from any European country must go through an institutional quarantine for 14 days once they arrive here.

The directive will come into effect from 12am Wednesday.

CAAB said this in a notice issued early Tuesday as part of the 18-point directive issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Monday aiming to curb transmission of the novel coronavirus.

All incoming and outgoing air passengers to and from Bangladesh will have to carry a Covid-19 negative certificate, CAAB said in the notice signed by its Flight Standard and Regulations Division member Ziaul Kabir.

Bangladesh on Monday witnessed a record rise in Covid-19 daily infection as the country reported 5,181 fresh infections and a 7-month high of 45 more deaths in 24 hours.

As of Monday, so far 8,949 people died from the virus in the country and 600,895 got infected since the pandemic started here in March last year.
