A court on Saturday placed former national parliament chief whip ASM Feroz on a three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Sohag Mia, 16, in the city's Bhatara area on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam granted a three-day remand as Sub-Inspector (SI) Masudur Rahman, investigating officer of the case, sought a 10-day remand while producing the accused before the court, reports BSS.
During the anti-discrimination student movement, Sohag Mia was shot dead by the police in front of Faraji Hospital near a 100ft road under Bhatara Police Station on July 19 afternoon, according to the case documents.
The next day, the victim's father Safayet Hossain filed a murder case with the Bhatara Police Station against 91 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Feroz was detained from the city's Banani area on the night of August 23. Earlier on August 24, he was placed on a seven-day remand in the same case.
