A retired teacher was stabbed to death in front of Bogura Sadar police station on Friday night.
The deceased, Rezaul Karim Panna, was a former lecturer at the Political Science Department at Govt Azizul Haque College and a resident of the Phulbari area.
Two members of the police and a passer-by were also injured in the incident.
The injured — Shahadat Hossain and Golam Kibria, members of the Bogura district Detective Branch of police, and Abdur Rauf, a passer-by — are now receiving treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.
The police detained accused Mendi Khairul, 30, from the scene.
Nure Alam Siddique, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station, said Mendi swooped on Panna over an old enmity in front of the police station around 11:45pm on Friday when the three came to save Panna.
Mendi also stabbed them, leaving all of them injured, he said.
They were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where Panna succumbed to his injuries, added the OC.
In primary interrogation, Mendi confessed that he killed Panna over a land dispute.
