Former Deputy Director of Health Department Dr Md Fakrul Islam died at 10.50pm last night at his residence of Balubagan in the district town. He was 70.
He left wife, three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Fakrul Islam had been suffering from lung infections for a long time, his family sources said.
Earlier, he served as the Civil Surgeon of Chapainawabganj and formerly he was the President of Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
He was also a social worker and a member of Committee of the Concerned Citizen (CCC) in Chapainawabganj of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).
He would be buried at Fakirpara Central graveyard in the town after a namaz-e-janaza to be held at Fakirpara Central Eidgah around 2:00pm.
