A court on Sunday placed Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of garment worker Ashraful Islam in the Ashulia area.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rabeya Begum passed the order as police produced Jyoti before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case, reports BSS.

Jyoti was arrested from the city's Uttara area on September 14 and was placed on a four-day remand in an attempt to murder case filed with the Ashulia Police Station.

On September 11, a private university student Md Rabius Sunny filed the case with Ashulia Thana alleging Jyoti along with other accused of the case for attempting to kill him.
