A Cox's Bazar court granted bail to Shipra Rani Debnath, an aide of slain army Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, who was earlier sent to jail in a narcotics case lodged by police.
Ramu Judicial Magistrate Delwar Hossain passed the order on Sunday noon, confirmed Shipra’s lawyer Arup Barua Topu.
After hearing the plea, the court granted her bail until the investigation report in the case is submitted, he said.
Meanwhile, Teknaf-3 Senior Judicial Magistrate Court fixed August 10 for hearing the bail plea of the other accused Rifatul Islam Sifat, another aide of Sinha.
A bail plea has been submitted for Sifat in two cases filed by the police on murder and drugs charges, said Sifat’s lawyer Mahbubul Alam Tipu.
Shipra and Sifat were detained by law enforcers on the night of July 31 when Sinha was killed in a reported police firing in Cox’s Bazar.
