The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday granted bail to former state minister for civil aviation and BNP leader Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin to jail in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

A bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain granted the bail on the ground of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

Earlier a bail petition was filed by Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin in this regard.

Earlier on November 8, a Dhaka court sent Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, to jail in a graft case.

Rejecting a bail plea, Judge ASM Ruhul Imran of Special Judge's Court-2 of Dhaka passed the order on November 8.

The ACC filed the case against former state minister Mir Nasir Uddin and his son Mir Helal Uddin with Gulshan Police Station on March 6, 2007, over allegedly amassing illegal wealth and concealing information.

On July 4, 2007, the Special Judge's Court sentenced Nasir to 13 years’ imprisonment and his son Helal to three years’ one.
