Awami League presidium member and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in the capital as her health condition deteriorated.
Sahara Khatun’s personal secretary Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter on Friday.
He said the lawmaker was admitted to United Hospital in Dhaka with old age complications and symptoms like fever and allergic reactions on June 2. She had been undergoing treatment at that hospital since.
Khatun was already tested for Covid-19 infection after being admitted to the hospital. The results came out negative.
Sahara Khatun has been an elected member of parliament for the Dhaka-18 seat for the last three terms.
In the 2008 Awami League-led government, she served as the home minister and then as the minister of Posts and Telecommunications.
