Ex-SB chief Monirul, ex-DMP commissioner Habib sent into forced retirement

Former head of Special Branch of Police (SB) Monirul Islam and former commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Habibur Rahman have been sent to forced retirement from police service.

The disclosure came in separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday. Both were officers of the rank of additional inspector general of police.

According to the notifications, Monirul Islam and Habibur Rahman were retired from government service in the public interest as per the provisions of Section 45 of Public Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).

Earlier on Tuesday, another notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs had notified that  Monirul Islam was attached to the police headquarters from SB. Meanwhile, Habibur Rahman was transferred from the post of DMP Commissioner and attached to the Police headquarters on August 7.

On Tuesday, two separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs notified that Rangpur Metropolitan Police commissioner Md Moniruzzaman and Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Abdul Baten have been sent into forced retirement.
