Five people including four policemen were injured as a bomb-like device exploded inside Pallabi Police Station at the early hours of Wednesday.

The injured are— Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) Imran, 48, Sub-Inspector (SI) Sajeeb, 30, SI Ankush, 28, SI Rumi, 28 and Riaz, 28.

Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Walid Hossain confirmed it to The Business Post.

Two of the injured police officials have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and one at National Eye Institute. The other two, OC Imran and SI Sajeeb, were given first aid.

Walid Hossain said Pallabi police earlier detained three terrorists with two firearms and brought them to the police station. The terrorists possessed a device similar to a weighing machine which blasted later inside the duty officer's chamber.

Police had information that the detainees were planning to kill a political leader. The incident is being investigated, he added.
