A 10-day remand plea has been submitted against Regent Hospital Chairman MD Shahed in connection with a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to a Dhaka court over misappropriation of Tk 2.71 crore of Farmers Bank Ltd (now Padma Bank Ltd).

The investigation officer of the case submitted the petition on Thursday in the court of Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka.

However, no date has been fixed for the hearing of the petition as Shahed is already in remand in another case.

Earlier on July 29, the ACC on submitted a petition to a Dhaka court to show Shahed and two others arrested in a case filed over the misappropriation of Tk 2.71 crore of Farmers Bank Ltd.

ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Shahjahan Meraj, who is also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the petition to the court for showing them arrested in the case.

Later in the day, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka fixed August 5 for a hearing on the petition. The court also directed the investigation officer to submit a probe report on the case by August 16.

On July 27, ACC filed a case against Shahed and three others with its Integrated District Office-1 of Dhaka.

Regent Hospital Managing Director Ibrahim Khalil, who is another accused in the case, is currently on the run.

Earlier in 2015, the accused in collusion with each other allegedly embezzled Tk 2.71 crore from the bank abusing their power.
