A Dhaka Court on Monday placed Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed on a seven-day remand in a case filed over embezzlement of Tk 2.71 crore of Farmers Bank Ltd (now Padma Bank Ltd).

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Dhaka Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order on Monday after hearing a 10-day remand plea filed on August 6 by ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Shahjahan Meraj, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) accused Shahed and three others in the case filed with its Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka on July 27.

Regent Hospital Managing Director Ibrahim Khalil, who is another accused in the case, is currently on the run.

In 2015, the accused in collusion with each other allegedly embezzled Tk 2.71 crore from the bank abusing their power.
