A man and his son died after falling into a septic tank while cleaning at around 9:30am on Monday at Chaugachha upazila in Jashore.
The deceased are identified as Madhu Rishi, 46 and his son Sagar Rishi, 25, from South Kayarpara village of Chaugachha Sadar upazila.
Sagar died when he got down in the tank to rescue his father. The fire service recovered the bodies from the tank.
Golam Kibria, inspector (investigation) of Chaugachha police station confirmed the matter.
He said that he visited the scene and an unnatural death case is being processed at Chaugachha police station in this regard.
Delwar, leader of Jashore Fire Service said, "I think they died from the gas in the septic tank.”
