A man and his son were killed as a pickup van hit their motorcycle in Balla-Kolonipara area under Jhikorgacha upazila of Jashore on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Johor Ali, 50, and his son Aktaruzzaman, 22, resident of Nishchintipur village under Jhikorgacha upazila of the district.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhikorgacha thana Abdur Razzak said a pickup van hit the motorcycle in Balla-Kolonipara area while Johor Ali was going to Jhikorgacha upazila town riding a motorcycle with his son Aktaruzzaman, leaving them injured seriously.
Locals rescued them and admitted them to Jhikorgacha Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Johor Ali dead. Aktaruzzaman was sent to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries last night.
Police seized the pickup van but its driver fled from the scene.
A case was filed in Jhikorgacha thana.
