FBCCI for cutting profits on dry food, emergency supplies

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam has urged retail and wholesale traders to make very limited profits on dry food items and emergency supplies.

Making the call in a press release issued on Sunday, Mahbubul urged traders to reduce the profits they make on flattened rice, puffed rice, jaggery, sugar, medicine, saline, baby food, and potable water.

The release adds that several districts of the country - including Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram - have been inundated by severe floods triggered by torrential downpour and upstream inflows.

People from all corners of the society, students, businesses and different voluntary organisations, regardless of class and profession, have already taken up a programme to distribute dry food items, medicine, saline, baby food, potable water and other necessary items to the flood affected areas.

In this critical moment for the nation, the FBCCI president requested the business community and industrial groups to be more generous in helping the flood victims.
