A female prisoner reportedly hanged herself in Magura district jail on Wednesday (July 15).
The deceased was identified as Begum Sathi, 40, charged with killing her three-year-old daughter on March 8.
Tayef Uddin, superintendent of Magura Jail, said Sathi had been suffering from mental illness and underwent treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital until May 2.
As she tried to hang herself with a scurf in a cell at about 1:30pm, Sathi was taken to sadar hospital where she was declared dead, the Jail Super said.
