Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday (July 24) held a Ward Councillor on a charge of extortion from Madhupur area of Feni Municipality.
The arrestee was identified as Abu Yusuf Badal, Councillor of Ward no 15.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police and Acting Captain of Rab-7, Md Nuruzzaman said Badal was arrested when he was taking money from poor people in the name of giving them breastfeeding cards in the afternoon.
He also collected money while distributing widow- and elderly allowances, Nuruzzaman said.
