Ferry services resume on Aricha-Kazirhat, Paturia-Daulatdia

Ferry services resumed on the Aricha-Kazirhat route at 11am, and the Paturia-Daulatdia route at 10:50am, after remaining suspended for hours on Saturday morning as dense fog blanketed the Padma and Jamuna river beds.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route was suspended from 7:00am, and Paturia-Daulatdia from 7:15am due to lack of visibility.

During the period three ferries were stranded at the Paturia Ghat, three in the middle of the river Padma, and five at Daulatdia Ghat, he added. A Ro-Ro ferry was also stranded in the middle of the Jamuna.

Now all the ferries on both the river routes are running in full swing, Newaz confirmed.
