The government on Monday allowed the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation to operate ferries on Paturia-Daulatdia route and Shimulia-Banglabazar route on the River Padma to facilitate home-goers' Eid journeys.

BIWTC general manager Asikuzzaman confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.

Earlier on Friday, the BIWTA has issued a gazette notification that said ferry services would remain shut on day time on Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Banglabazar routes from Saturday.

Only services will be available at night for goods transport.

After Monday’s decision, BIWTC’ss Banglabazar terminal manager Salauddin said ferry services were normal now and the sufferings of home-bound passengers would be eased.
