Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route resumed at 7:30am after more than six hours of disruption due to dense fog on the Jamuna, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat officials sources said.
BIWTC Deputy General Manager Paturia Ghat Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said now the ferry movement between Aricha-Kazirhat route is normal, adding that all the ferries on the river route are plying normally.
Paturia Ghat sources said the ferry movement was also suspended in between Paturia-Daulatdia for an hour of dense fog. During this period one ferry was stranded at Paturia Ghat with vehicles and passengers, nine ferries at Daulatdia Ghat, and two in the middle of the river Padma.
After 7:30am when the dense fog disappeared all the ferries started to ply normally.
