A fire that broke out at a gas pipeline beside the Palwel factory at Adamjee EPZ in Narayanganj on Friday morning was doused in the afternoon.
The firefighters were alerted to the incident at 7:30am, said the Media Cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
BKMEA Executive President Mohammad Hatem said that during piling work at the site, gas pipes burst at a depth of 20 feet, causing gas to leak out at a rapid rate for 3 hours.
After the pipe burst at around 7:30am, Fire started at around 10:30am, the cause of which is estimated to be the friction between the gas pipes, he added.
Nine firefighting units battled the blaze till it was doused at around 4:34pm, it added.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
