A fire that broke out at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute’s cardiac department in Dhaka’s Agargaon area on Friday was brought under control after one hour.

Talha Bin Zasim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, said the fire originated in the cardiac department on the fourth floor of the hospital at around 1:47pm.

On information, three firefighting units from Mohammadpur station rushed to the spot and doused the fire at around 2:39pm, he said.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.

No casualties were reported, said the fire service.
