Fire guts electronics godown at Paltan

The fire that quickly tore through Hamim Electronics godown in the capital's Paltan on Wednesday was brought under control after nearly two hours.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Earlier, the blaze began at the tin-shed godown of Hamim Electronics, housed in a two-storey building, near Hotel 71 in Bijoynagar around 6:30pm, Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell Officer Shahjahan Shikder said.

“Thirteen firefighting units from Siddik Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence responded to the blaze and could tame the flames at 8:27pm”, he said.

The reasons for the fire mishap and the extent of damage could not be confirmed immediately, Shahjahan said.
