At least 15 shops were gutted by fire in separate incidents in two districts on Friday.
In Noakhali, a total of 10 shops were burnt at Char Elahi Bazar in Companiganj upazila in the early hours of Friday, reports BSS.
The fire originated from a short circuit at a shop around 3:30am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, Station Officer of Companiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Jamil Miah told BSS.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and put out the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after one hour of tireless efforts, he said.
"The extent of damage could be known after the investigation," he added.
In Gopalganj, a fire gutted at least five shops in the Charprasannadi area under Muksudpur upazila early Friday.
The fire originated from a shop of Shahidul Alam Mintu around 1am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, said Shaukat Hossain, in-charge of Sindiaghat police outpost.
Two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after two hours of efforts, Sohrab Hossain, team leader of Khalia Fire Service of Rajoir upazila told BSS.
