Fire guts 1O houses in Chandpur

At least 10 houses were gutted in a major fire that broke out at a residential home in Sendra village of Hajiganj upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The blaze began in a house around 4pm and soon engulfed the adjoining houses, said Iqbal Hasan, senior station officer of Hajiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, firefighters were pressed into service and it took them nearly two hours to douse the flames, he added.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The amount of losses is estimated to be around Tk30 lakh. "A probe has been ordered," Iqbal said.

Mujibur Rahman, a local UP Chairman, said we have given 10 sacks of rice and 20 blankets with Tk 20,000 immediately after the incident.
