A fire gutted the factory and warehouse of Meghna Sugar Refinery Ltd, a concern of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), in Narayanganj around 5am on Thursday.
Twelve units of the factory’s internal fire service immediately rushed to the spot and started extinguishing the fire, according to a press release.
Two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence from Sonargaon and Gajaria also joined them within a short time.
After working jointly for six to seven hours, the fire was brought under control, the release read.
The fire caused substantial damage to the factory and warehouse, the MGI authorities said.
