Barrister Mohammad Selim Isfaq Ali has been appointed as the first Bangladeshi lawyer in the Malaysian High court. He took oath in the Malaysian High Court as a newly appointed lawyer on January 07, 2022.
A reception event was organised to celebrate his appointment. Representative of the Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh GM Russell Rana (Counselor) graced the event with his presence and congratulated Barrister Mohammad Selim Isfaq Ali.
Barrister Isfaq Ali is the only child of Khurshed Ali Mollah, former director of FBCCI and former co-president of Dhaka Chamber, and Aleya Begum.
His wife, Barrister Sufaira Zafar, is a Malaysian citizen and has been practising regularly in the Malaysian High Court. Both the husband and wife are partners of the famous Malaysian law firm Smritinur & Partner.
Barrister Isfaq Ali hails from Kahur village of Nawabganj police station in Dhaka district. He moved to England in 2009 after completing O Level from SFX Green Herald School & College and A Level from Mastermind School. He received his LLB (Hons) degree in law from the University of Northumbria in 2013 and his Bar at Law (England and Wales) degree from the Society of Lincoln's Inn in 2014. He then completed his Master of Law (International Trade Law) from Northumbria University in 2015.
