A man who died with fever, cough and breathing problems while being taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on Tuesday morning has been found positive for coronavirus.
The man, Nur Alam, 43 is a mobile mechanic and resident of Rajapur village in Rupsha upazila. He was taken to the KMCH around 8:45am where he was declared dead, said Dr Abdul Ahad, principal of KMC.
This is the first coronavirus death in the district, he said.
So far, they have tested 191 samples at the KMCH lab and found only Nur Alam positive for coronavirus, said Dr Ashrafur Rahman, medical officer at the KMCH emergency unit.
The local administration has put 20 houses under lockdown at Rajapur village.
