The preventive team of Dhaka Custom House on Saturday detained a flight attendant and a passenger with 30 gold bars worth around Tk 2.21 crore from the Green Channel area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports BSS.

They were identified as Md Nazrul, the flight attendant and Faraji Momenur Rahman alias Mominur, the passenger.

Mohammad Abdus Sadek, deputy commissioner at the Dhaka Customs House (preventive team), said that the estimated value of the illegal gold, weighing 3 kgs and 400 grams, is around Tk 2.21 crore.

The airport employee helped Mominur to cross the Green Channel after he arrived at the airport by a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight from Saudi Arabia at around 12:30 am on Saturday, said the customs official. The gold bars were recovered from the battery of a charger light, he added.

The duo were handed over to the airport police, said Abdus Sadek.
