Agricultural Minister Abdur Razzak on Wednesday said that crops worth of Tk 1323 crore were damaged by flood in 37 districts.
He made the claim during a press conference at the secretariat adding that, "This year agricultural products worth of Tk 1323 were damaged as flood hit 37 districts for three times."
He also said, "Out of 2 lakh 57 thousand 148 hectares of flooded farmland with standing crops, agro-produces of 1 lakh 58 thousand 814 hectares of cropland were totally damaged. A total of 12 lakh 72 thousand and 151 farmers were affected by the flood.”
He also said, Aush paddy worth Tk 334 crore in 32 thousand and 213 hectare of lands, Aman paddy worth Tk 380 crore in 70 thousand 820 hectares of land and Aman seedbed of 7 thousand 918 hectares of land were suffered by the flood.
Besides, vegetables worth of Tk 235 crore and jute worth of Tk 211 crore were also damaged by the flood.
The minister also detailed about the different programmes taken by the government to overcome the damage caused by the flood.
He said, "Agriculture ministry has made massive preparations to tackle flood as soon as receiving forecast about flood. All including field level officers were alert about the flood and advised the farmers to minimise the loss of agriculture harvest."
