Five more people have been killed in two districts of the country in the last 24 hours due to the catastrophic flooding triggered by heavy monsoon downpours.

All the victims — four in Netrakona and one in Lalmonirhat — died by drowning, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

With the fresh deaths, the toll from flooding rose to 107 since May 17, it said.

In addition, as many as 12,457 people, including 794 in the last 24 hours, were affected by various diseases such as vision impairment, diarrhoea, skin diseases, or sustained snakebites during the period from May 17 to July 4.

A total of 2,047 medical teams are now working to provide various health services to the flood-affected people in 185 upazilas of the 28 flood-affected districts, the DGHS added.
