The flood situation has deteriorated in the district due to relentless rainfall and a rise in the water level of the Muhuri River, resulting in more areas of the district being flooded and affecting millions of people.

A total of 71 millimetres (mm) of rain were recorded by the district Weather Office in the last 24 hours to fill the report.

As many as 20 lakh people were stranded due to the flow of flood water. Roads, crop fields and fish ponds have gone under the flood water while seven municipalities in Noakhali district have been submerged, reports BSS.

Water logging is seen in most areas of the district including Maijdee. The district administration has shut down all educational institutions. Flood water entered homes and marketplaces in Noakhali municipality.

As part of emergency assistance, the district administration is helping to distribute relief items among the flood-affected people.
