Journalists should focus on enhancing the quality of news reports and articles, and ensure objectivity by unearthing the truth, instead of competing others in the field blindly, unethically and irrationally.

Although some journalists working in other newspapers are practicing yellow journalism, Daily Amader Shomoy and The Business Post must be committed to avoiding such malpractices, said Unique Group Managing Director freedom fighter Mohd. Noor Ali on Monday.

Speaking at the District Correspondent Conference of Amader Shomoy at its office in the capital, he said, “Journalists should have to be competent with a positive mind, and possess the ability to think outside the box.

“Also, journalists should have to be committed to ensuring objectivity, increasing quality and avoiding yellow practices.”

He added, “If journalists maintain such practices, no one will be able to impede their work. They will surely achieve their goals, reach their potential, and become successful in being the people’s voice and representative.

“You should remember that a journalist has no opposition or position. So, we cannot write against anyone. Such a behavior falls under ill practices. Instead, we should only search for the truth and ensure objectivity.”

Mohd. Noor Ali continued, “We have to work for the good of our country, and for the good of the country’s people. So, we have to cover stories of people who have achieved economic and financial success in social and civil circles.

“We should also report on obstacles and impediments faced by industries on which the country stands, and on the potential of such sectors too.”

He then said, “The ultimate success of our liberation war will be achieved if we bring economic emancipation by practicing journalism with honesty, integrity and commitment for the country, and for the next generation.

“Amader Shomoy and The Business Post will move forward with determination to build a fair and secular Bangladesh by ensuring economic emancipation in line with the spirit of the liberation war.”

Present at the event, PHP Family Director Ali Hossain Sohag said, “Journalists should work with integrity and commitment to chalk out the best plans and strategies to boost ties with pear groups, and enhance readability and popularity among readers through objective journalism.”

Amader Shomoy awarded the best ten district correspondents for this year at Monday’s event.

Mohd. Noor Ali and Ali Hossain also announced to provide the correspondents with competitive packages and best compliance in the news media in the coming days, to encourage journalists and bring out the best outcomes.

Ekushey Padak-winning journalist, writer and Amader Shomoy Editor Abul Momen, Amader Shomoy Advisor Editor and The Business Post Acting Editor Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain, Unique Group and PHP Group CEOs, and the journalists of these two dailies were present there.
