Dense fog disrupted ferry operations on the key Daulatdia-Paturia route for four hours on Wednesday.
The authorities suspended the ferry services from 4:30am on Wednesday due to poor visibility, said Assistant General Manager (AGM) Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).
Five ferries got stuck on the mid of the Padma river, he said.
Several hundred vehicles remained stranded on both sides, he added.
The ferry service resumed after 8am when visibility improved, the official added.
