Former cabinet secretary Dr Saadat Husain has passed away. He breathed his last on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
He was 73.
Saadat Husain was being treated at the intensive care unit of the United Hospital in Dhaka for the last 10 days.
Saadat was suffering from kidney complications, family sources said.
His son Shazed Saadat said doctors declared his father dead at 10:49pm.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim expressed shock at the death of Dr Saadat Hussain, also a freedom fighter.
