Fareast International University Vice Chancellor Dr Nazmul Karim Chowdhury has died from coronavirus.
Nazmul Karim, also a former professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management department at the University of Dhaka (DU), passed away early Thursday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), confirmed DMCH Assistant Director Dr Mosaddek Hossain.
He said, “Dr Nazmul got admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. He tested positive for Covid-19. Since then he had been undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
However, Md Mamun, deputy registrar of Fareast International University, said Dr Nazmul did not die from coronavirus.
“VC sir died of heart attack. He was not infected with coronavirus,” Mamun claimed.
DU VC Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman expressed condolences on the demise of Nazmul.
