Former amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Makbul Ahmad passed away at a hospital in the capital city Tuesday.
He breathed his last at Ibn Sina Medical College Hospital at noon.
Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar confirmed the news to the media.
Jamaat’s current amir Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep shock at the death of Makbul Ahmad in a condolence message posted on his Facebook page.
He prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
Severely ill Makbul Ahmad was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Ibn Sina Hospital.
