Advocate Shahjahan Ali Talukder, former Member of Parliament from the Bogura-5 (Dhunat-Sherpur) constituency, passed away from Covid-19 at a hospital in the city on Sunday.
The politician, 65, breathed his last while undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
Shahjahan Ali was diagnosed with Covid-19 on June 21. He was admitted to the CMH on June 24 for better treatment.
He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
The freedom fighter, hailing from Gopalpur Khaduli village at Mathurapur union in Dhunat upazila, was a Jatiya Party Member of Parliament from 1988 to 1999.
