Former President and Chief Justice of Bangladesh Shahabuddin Ahmed passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Saturday at the age of 92.
Family sources said Ahmed breathed his last around 10:25am.
He had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time, they said.
In February, he got admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of CMH as his physical condition deteriorated.
Shahabuddin Ahmed was born on February 1, 1930. He served as the president of Bangladesh from 1996-2001, and the Chief Justice from 1990-1995.
Earlier, he took over the charge of acting President of the country in 1990 after Hussain Muhammad Ershad resigned from the post.
